Citycar (1980)
This is a front-wheel-drive, three-door hatchback in the subcompact class. Its design is based on a transversely mounted, liquid-cooled, 1.1-liter, four-cylinder carbureted engine producing 53 hp, mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. With a curb weight of just 710 kg, the car offers excellent performance for its class, reaching a top speed of 145 km/h while delivering high fuel efficiency. The chassis features an independent MacPherson strut front suspension and a semi-independent rear suspension with a coil-sprung beam and trailing arms, ensuring a smooth ride and road stability. Distinctive design features include front disc brakes with an open-center wheel hub and a unique three-stud mounting pattern, as well as a wedge-shaped body profile with refined aerodynamics and a drag coefficient (Cd) of 0.37. The interior is spacious for the car's compact dimensions, and the folding rear seats significantly expand cargo capacity, making the vehicle a practical and versatile mode of transport. The car's design combines ease of maintenance and maneuverability in heavy city traffic with the automotive technology of 1980.
