Heavy Frontline Fighter (1980)
A heavy, highly maneuverable, all-weather, fourth-generation multi-role fighter designed to achieve air superiority and effectively engage aerial targets at long ranges. The aircraft features an integrated aerodynamic configuration in which the wing blends smoothly into the fuselage, creating a unified lifting body that ensures high lift and excellent aerodynamic efficiency across the entire speed range. It employs a multiply redundant analog fly-by-wire control system that automatically manages the airframe's longitudinal static instability, enabling supermaneuverability and the execution of unique aerobatic maneuvers. The propulsion system consists of two afterburning turbofan engines with a combined thrust of 25,000 kgf, allowing the aircraft to reach speeds of up to 2,500 km/h (Mach 2.35) and altitudes of up to 18,500 meters. A capacious internal fuel system holds over 9 tons of fuel, providing a record-breaking operational range of up to 3,530 km without the use of external drop tanks. The onboard targeting suite includes a pulse-Doppler radar, an optoelectronic targeting system with an infrared sensor and laser rangefinder, and a helmet-mounted target designation system. Built-in armament consists of a 30mm rapid-fire automatic cannon with 150 rounds of ammunition, while ten external hardpoints accommodate a wide array of medium- and short-range air-to-air missiles with a combined weight of up to 6,000 kg.
